Trivial is Relative

Or, how being hoisted on your own petard can give you a better view

Yesterday I said that I went with WordPress because it would be “trivial to give it an ActivityPub actor“. So, that wasn’t exactly true.

The ActivityPub plugin, when added to a WordPress install, in a Docker container, behind a reverse proxy, apparently doesn’t create the necessary WebFinger file that you need to speak to stuff through the ActivityPub protocol. I looked for a way to get it to do that automatically and, when that failed, figured out how to do it manually. So, in a minute I’m going to hit that nice blue “Publish” button, and hope this winds up on the Fediverse account I can then retweetboosttootpost.

Still doesn’t actually know what a “WebFinger” is.
